Dynamics 365 Field Service Scheduling with Solvares VISITOUR

Service organizations schedule work in very different ways. A utility must account for regulatory windows and technician certifications. A medical-device company routes specialists across a wide region. A facilities provider re-plans throughout the day as same-day jobs, cancellations, and traffic change what is possible. To support that range of needs, we are expanding the scheduling options available in Dynamics 365 Field Service. Today we are sharing that Solvares has integrated its scheduling optimization solution, VISITOUR, with Dynamics 365 Field Service. VISITOUR provides real-time appointment scheduling and predictive-traffic route optimization, along with dynamic in-day re-optimization for operations that change frequently over the course of a day. The integration is delivered through a VISITOUR accelerator that Solvares developed in collaboration with the Field Service product team, and it is available now in Microsoft Marketplace. 

Why expanding scheduling choice matters 

Customers running complex service operations consistently tell us that scheduling has to reflect how their business actually works. Geography, regulation, skill requirements, service-level commitments, and the practical constraints of a working day rarely reduce to a single model, and they differ from one organization to the next. 

Our approach is to provide strong, capable scheduling in the product by default, and to offer additional choice when a scenario calls for more specialized capabilities. Extending the Field Service ecosystem to include an established optimization specialist such as Solvares reflects that approach. It gives customers the flexibility to adopt the scheduling solution that best fits their operation, rather than adapting their operation to fit a single tool. 

When to consider using the VISITOUR accelerator 

VISITOUR’s real-time solution is most relevant in two situations –  

  • Complex constraints and objectives. The first is when scheduling involves an especially intricate set of constraints and competing objectives. Organizations that need to balance factors such as regulatory requirements, specialized skills, geographic considerations, service‑level commitments, and trade‑offs among competing business goals can use VISITOUR to model that complexity and optimize against it. 
  • Continuous (trigger-based) intraday optimization. The second is when an operation depends on continuous optimization throughout the day. Where the schedule changes constantly — urgent new jobs, cancellations, delays, and shifting traffic — VISITOUR re‑optimizes the plan continuously as conditions change, keeping routes and assignments aligned with the current state of the day rather than re‑planning only at fixed intervals. 

When either of these applies, VISITOUR is worth evaluating alongside the native Field Service scheduling capabilities. 

How the accelerator works 

The integration is delivered as an accelerator, a packaged, installable solution rather than a custom, one-off build. The connection between Dynamics 365 Field Service and VISITOUR is pre-built, tested, and maintained, so customers configure a supported integration instead of developing one from scratch. 

Dynamics 365 Field Service remains the system of record for service work, including work orders, requirements, bookings, and resources. The accelerator sends the relevant scheduling data to VISITOUR. VISITOUR performs its optimization, and the resulting bookings and assignments are returned to Field Service. Dispatchers and technicians may choose to continue to work in the same applications and records they use today. The Solvares accelerator is designed to align with how Field Service represents scheduling data. This helps make the integration supportable and repeatable across customers.
